NEATsheets has some suggestions for easy, but not average 4th of July fare. We hope you take the time to enjoy and celebrate the holiday
Yogurt Marinated Grilled Chicken
Easy, tasty and always tender. Click here for directions to this crowd pleaser.
It is easier to make than potato pancakes, and more elegant than French fries. This could be a great compliment to burgers and hot dogs.
Use thinly sliced red cabbage, some shredded carrots and toss it with a homemade balsamic vinaigrette (2 parts olive oil, 1 part balsamic vinegar, heaping tsp of mustard and salt and pepper). Let marinate. Then add raisins and caraways seeds before serving. Click here for a simple cole slaw option.
No recipe is needed, and most veggies are worthy, especially cauliflower, sweet potatoes, carrots, and zucchini mixed together or solo. Toss it with olive oil and salt. Roast at 425 for about 20 minutes or until they have a golden color. Do them on the grill as well.
Strawberry Rhubarb Pudding Cake
Moist and yummy. Also, if you are headed to a party, this dessert travels well.
Cherry Hand Pies
If you are feeling ambitious, cherry hand pies are so worth it. And what would Independence Day be without a scoop of ice cream!
